Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge (add a little texture)

Over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog this weeks challenge was to add a little texture.

I thought hey why not try and make a few Fourth of July cards.

I used this Water Color paper from Master's Touch that I purchased at Hobby Lobby, its already cut to 4X6 so I just had to cut it down to 5 !/2.

I also am using this Simon Says Stamp Cupcake Party stamp set that came in a Card Kit along time ago.
Testing out which side of the Water Color paper to use, I went with the smooth side.

I am using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in festive berries and salty ocean.

I spray the stamp one time after inking to give it the water color look, plus some texture.
Here I am using some old washi to mask off a picture of the stamp, its from Hobby Lobby called Lizzie Anne designs.

After my stamping has dried I take some Translucent embossing paste and thinly spread it out on my Kraft Sheet by Ranger and then use the stamps and go over the already stamped images.

I figured out to go straight down then pull off towards one side, not straight up if that makes sense.
Finished card on some Heavy Weight Black Card Stock, I stamped the sentiment in Versa Fine Black Onyx ink.

You can sort of see the texture from the translucent embossing paste, I also added some clear gems from my stash.

Inside of card is a stamp set from Hobby Lobby as well, Stampabilities.

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #216

Over on the My Favorite Things Challenge blog they have a sketch for Wednesday #216

I need some Easter cards for my daughter Alexis Teacher and Alivia's Gymnastic Coach.

I am using some of my favorite company's products combined with MFT products.

If possible I like to make two of any card design so I have extra.

This is an MFT stamp set called Embellished Eggs. I cut out eight, three for the front and one for the inside, times two cards.
Using Stampin UP inks in Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery,  Calypso Corral, and Wisteria Wonder.
I stamped this image out in Baked Brown Sugar ink from Stampin UP as well.

The stamp and die set combo is from Paper Trey Ink called Polka Dot Parade #12
Here I am using Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle and Grassy Border dies.

I used Stampin UP paper in Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, and Bashful Blue.
Finished card, everything is adhered with adhesive except the bunny tail and the red egg.

Close UP.

Inside of card, I used the opposite of the Grassy Border and just trimmed it down a little.

Back of card,

The envelope is a Target $1 item, they are paper bags that fit a standard card perfectly and some treats too, eight in a pack. I added some cute washi to seal it.
I just love the little paper bags for cards that I give out personaly, it saves on enevolopes and can hold more in them as well.

3X3 Thank You Notes (Valentines Eddition)

I took inspiration from Pinterest of course and found THIS IDEA.

It can be replicated in so many ways but just changing out the die cut or punch and different paper behind it.

This is a long post because I am showing you how I get the most out of cutting my 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper to get as many 3X3 cards as I can, also showing how I use the left overs to get my 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch square layering pieces.

I am using a Fiskars trimmer.

I put my 8 1/2 by 11 Heavy Weight card stock portrait style and cut at 6 inches.
This is what it looks like after.

One piece at 6 inches wide by 11 inches tall.

One piece at 2 1/2 inches wide by 11 inches tall.
Taking the 2 1/2 inch by 11 inch piece and put it landscape in the paper trimmer, I am cutting each piece to 2 1/2 inches.
 Now I have four 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches square pieces.

I have one 2 1/2 inch by 1 inch piece left, that is scrap.
Before I cut the 6 inch by 11 inch pieces I am going to use my Martha Stewert Scoreboard and place the card stock portrait style and score at three inches.
Now back to the trimmer, I put the scored 6 inch by 11 inch piece landscape in my trimmer and cut at three inches.
Now I have three 3X3 cards and a 2 inch by 6 inch piece left which is scrap.

It takes nine sheets of 8 1/2 by 11 inch card stock to make 25 3X3 cards with more then 25 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch layering pieces.

You dont always have to layer.
Here I am using a Fiskar's heart punch and assembly line style punch out the hearts out of all the 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch squares.
Here I am showing you that I have put the paper in all the way and using the edges peeking out to make sure the heart is centered.
I choose some small heart pattern paper from my stash, it was from a Color Box pack and it matches my Ink from Stampin UP in Regal Rose and Raspberry Ripple.
This 4X4 stamp set is from one of my Stamps of Life card kits that you can only get with the kits, its not sold separately.

These 4X4 are becoming a quick favorite of mine because of their size and different fonts.
Here I am placing my pattern paper on my heart punched square to use it as a guide.

I am using Tombow Mono liquid glue .
Then I carefully place this on top of my 3X3 card.

I only had to do this once.
And now I have my guide and I left it next to my stack as a reference to where I place my squares.
And assembly style I use some small square foam that I got from Hobby Lobby and put one on each corner and above the top of the heart.
Ta Da in a zip lock baggie with a pack of 25 envelope's from Hobby Lobby.

Project Life type tags for our Valentine's Boxes

I made some Valentine's Fondue boxes for our Teacher, Coach, Family, and Friends and wanted to include cute little tags.

To see my post on how to assemble the Valentine Fondue Boxes click here.

I am using my Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card dies in both sizes, 3X4 and 4X6.

Here I added some washi tape face up.
I aligned my paper upside down and attached the washi tape.
I did the washi tape technique for the 4X6 because my paper is 6X6 and that way I got it perfectly aligned to cut just right.
I am using a paper pad from The Paper Studio called Love Struck.

I cut two pieces and glued them together.
Here they are front and back.
Using the banned dies that come with the journaling dies and also another stamp set from The Paper Studio and some Versa Fine Black Onyx ink to stamp out February 14.
Here I am just righting out my instructions to make sure I can fit them on the card.

The heart border is also a die from the same Journaling Dies.
Using some alpha stickers from SN@P, I used the numbers and then an American Crafts pen to write my instructions.
Cutting out more banners with vellum, Die Cuts With a View glitter paper, and more pattern paper.

I stamped a sentiment from a Stamps of Life Card Kit stamp using the same black ink,
Here's how it looks in the box. I added a staple to the banners and covered it with a heart button,

Valentine Box for Teacher, Coach, Friends, Family

I have been following Smashed Peas and Carrots for a long time and when she posted her Fondue Box I had to recreate it for our Family, Teacher, and Coach.

Let me tell you I purchased more then enough supplies and I only made four boxes, I could totally make probably three more.

I had two My Favorite Things boxes sitting around waitng for inspiration and they worked perfectly, I will definitely be saving them again for next year.
I took some old Valentine's paper from my stash, it looks like it was from Target the $1 spot. I also used Mod Podge to adhere them.

Just measure your box and cut your paper to size, I left a small white border.
This Ranger kraft mat really helps with keeping things in one spot and the mess is just a wipe away with a few baby wipes.
I have always collected all sorts of holiday plates and napkins from all different stores.

These are from Target.

The heart straws are too, but you can find them any where now adays.
I used a bowl and tablespoon and spooned out two tablespoons per baggies.

I purchased the baggies from Hobby Lobby in different sizes from small, medium, and large.

The sprinkles came from all different stores.
Again using supplies from my stash and different stores I filled these bags and labeled them and decorated them with washi tape and felt stickers.
 Super cute.

I added some tissue paper, fun dollies, and paper cups.

I made these fun Project Life style tags to put inside as well to tell what too due.
Would you like to see how I made my Journaling tags click here.

And also a Valentine's card too.

The top and sides of the box.

The bottom and sides o the box.
I made one from my brothers family but didn't have another MFT box so I used a Tupperware shoe box.
I had two MFT boxes and they will be for Alexis Teacher and Alivia's Gymnastics Coach.
I have one more ready to go in a Flat Rate Medium box for my Step Daughter and her brothers and sisters and will be put in the mail tomorrow.
